The meet up

The end of August 2011 not only indicates the coming of hari raya but also the arrival of Malaysia independence day, which drops on 31st of August every year. For those who are not celebrating Raya, holiday it is! =) Long holidays are meant for gathering, gathering and gathering! I took this golden opportunity to meet up with some penangites who I've been not meeting up for months or years.

All of us know the first meal is the most important meal to kick start a day. Thus, I started of my day by having brunch at Soul Kitchen@Muntri Street.

Al Limone Pasta@Soul Kitchen

Beside the main course, we had their signature dessert-Tiramisu cake! Sorry for no display picture for this as we're too excited to eat it :P Tiramisu cake with earl grey tea was quite a good combination as the tea was believed to be able to wash off the greasiness in the mouth as well as your tummy :D

After a long walk in Gurney, we decided to have something light after a quite heavy brunch. As we wanted to redeem the paddington pancake's deal that my friend bought from milk-a-deal previously, we went to the newly opened branch-Paddington@
Gurney. For the deals, we're only allowed to order the pancakes from their special menu, so we picked a strawberry-apple pancake and a cinnamon-peach pancake in the end. Each dessert was complemented with a glass of beverage.

After walking around in Gurney for a bit, we headed to Straits Quay for another date. As we reached there an hour before our dinner date, so we went to four season bakery to redeem the France imported macarons as my friend had another coupon from milk-a-deal. ^^

The sweetness and fluffiness as well as the crunchiness was just so perfect! *Highly recommended*

Then, we headed to Blue Reef to meet up with the rest. I had a hard time making decision as I'd done some research a day before and found out that most of their reviews were not so good. After struggling for some time, I decided to order BBQ chicken with buttered rice while the other friend had their famous fish n chips.

Seriously no comment for this!

BBQ chicken with buttered rice. This was not disappointed :)

When we get together again =)

It's hard to tell you how happy I was when I knew that my Uni buddies were planning to spend a weekend in Penang, or more precise, to held a gathering at the lovely Island ^^

After voting, they finally reserved a dorm for 4 at Ryokan Chic Hostels, which is located at Muntri Street. Well, they got quite a good deal (Rm40 per person) for the room and it's air-conditioned (blanket is available to rent for Rm3) even though it's quite small for 4 people. Oops! Should be 5 people as I squeezed into their room that night :P

For your information, there are few unique and cozy cafes and coffee shops located along the street. Soul Kitchen and Moontree 47 are just located a stone throw away from Ryokan Chic Hostels. Soul kitchen serves simple but awesome brekkie as well as amazing Tiramisu cake.

There are two Ipads @ the chillax corner which are available to be used at anytime.

Besides, you are allowed to borrow books from the shelves @ the reading corner and enjoy your reading on the sofas that were lining along the hallway.

As they reached around lunch time, we headed to Little Genting @ Island Glades to fill up our empty stomach. *Grumbling*

The best Mochi I had ever tried! *Likes*

Wanton mee

Poh Piah~ The turnips were very soft! *Love*

The Char Kuey Teow was really good! Must try!!

Penang asam laksa! *Noms*

Beach @ Batu Feringghi is one of the must go places at the Island. As all of them have never been to Penang Hard Rock Hotel, so we decided to go and have a peek! We managed to take some pictures at the beach before heading back to town for dinner.

Hard Rock Rock!!!

My lovely and pretty buddies ^^

Here comes our dinner! We had dinner at Gurney drive and again, there were few dishes which we had already eaten in the afternoon but of course, there were new dishes which we haven't tried.

One of my favorite - Pasembur. My choice of tofu, cucur udang (fried prawn), fish balls which came with shredded cucumber and turnips topped with sweet and a bit spicy sauce.

Fried oyster with eggs

Ikan bakar (Grilled fish). *Highly recommended* The stall is located near to the Char kuey teow stall which is the first part of Gurney Drive if you're coming from Gurney Plaza.

Fried Carrot Cake

Squids with convulvulus

We always start with the first~

I suddenly have the feeling of starting to write a blog. Well, this is my first time, so I will just make it a short and simple one. I found that this is kind of a right place to express my feelings and thoughts when I have no one to share with. I'm quite excited but at the same time filled with a bit nervous as I'm not good in telling stories about myself by writing in words. Hopefully my second post will be up soon =)
